    FAQ

Icon for questionDo I need a self-heating lithium battery?

We've had customers use this battery when skiing ice fishing or doing other various winter activities. You can use and discharge Sunrich lithium batteries in cold temperatures, but a self-heated battery might be what you want if you plan to charge it in the cold.

Icon for questionHow does the self-heating work?

The auto self-heating function will be activated by the BMS when the battery is connected to a charger at -20℃ to 5℃ (-4℉ to 41℉). The heating will stop when the battery temperature reaches 10℃ (-4℉).

Icon for questionWhat are the differences between Self-Heating and Low-temperature protection batteries?

These two series primarily address the charging issues of LiFePO4 lithium batteries in cold weather. The main difference between the Low-Temperature series and the Self-Heating series lies in the presence of an automatic Battery Management System (BMS) heating module. The Self-Heating series allows the battery to self-warm without any action required from the user while charging.

Icon for questionDoes the lithium battery charge itself while heating?

No. The charging will start after the lithium battery heats itself to 10℃ (50℉).

Icon for question Can the Sunrich 100Ah self-heating lithium battery be charged while heating?

Yes. The Sunrich 12V 100Ah self-heating LiFePO4 lithium battery can discharge if it has power while heating. However, we don't recommend discharging during the heating process, as it may harm the performance and lifespan of the battery.

Icon for questionCan I add heating facilities to help with external heating?

External heating only heats the casing and does not heat the battery cells. In conditions of -20°C, after external heating for two hours, the battery cells temperature rise to 5°C, but the lead-acid casing temperature has risen to 70-80°C.

Therefore, it is not recommended to externally heat the battery, as the actual cell temperature cannot be determined at this time.

Icon for questionHow much does a Sunrich group 24 battery weight?

Sunrich 12V 100Ah Self Heating LiFePO4 Lithium Battery, equivalent to group 24 battery size, weigh on 24.25 lbs, much lighter than 12V 100Ah lead-acid batteries on the market.

Icon for questionAre Sunrich LiFePO4 Lithium batteries safe?

Yes. LiFePO4 is an inherently safe chemistry and the most stable lithium-type battery on the market. Sunrich lithium cells are UL certified for the highest safety and sustainability standards.

All Sunrich LiFePO4 batteries come with an internal Battery Management System which protects against under-voltage during discharge, over-voltage during charge, over-current during discharge, over-temperature during charge and discharge, and short-circuit protection – protects battery cells from damage. Additionally, Sunrich LiFePO4 Lithium batteries have been tested to be free from the risk of fire, and electric shock in harsh environments.

Icon for questionCan I use Sunrich LiFePO4 Lithium batteries as starting batteries?

No. Sunrich LiFePO4 lithium batteries are not intended to be used as starting batteries but energy storage, please do not use them to start any devices.

Icon for questionHow to charge Sunrich 12V LiFePO4 Lithium batteries with solar panels?

    1. Using Solar Panels

The battery can be fully charged in one day (with effective sunshine 4.5 hrs/day) by 300W solar panels. It may take more than one day to fully charge the battery by ≥300W solar panels, since the duration and intensity of light would be a great factor for their charging efficiency. Besides solar panels, there are 2 more ways to charge.

    2. Generator/Alternator

If the alternator or generator supports DC output, a DC-to-DC charger is needed to connect the battery to the generator; if your alternator or generator supports AC output, please add a suitable battery charger to connect the battery and the generator according to our recommendations. The Recommended Charging Voltage: 14.2V - 14.6V. The Recommended Charging Current: ① 20A (0.2C): the battery will be fully charged in around 5 hrs to 100% capacity; ② 50A (0.5C): the battery will be fully charged in around 2 hrs to around 97% capacity.

    3. LiFePO4 Smart Chargers

Icon for questionCan I charge Self heating Lithium batteries in cold weather (under freezing temperatures)?

Yes.  The self heating lithium battery can safely charge between-20℃ to 50℃ ( -4℉ to 122℉). The built in self-heating pad will automatically start heating the battery.

Icon for questionHow do I store Sunrich LiFePO4 lithium batteries?

It is recommended to store Sunrich LiFePO4 batteries at 50% state of charge (SOC). If the batteries are stored for long periods, cycle the batteries at least every 6 months. Recommended storage environment: 10℃~35℃ (50℉~95℉), 45%RH~75%RH

Icon for questionWhat should I do if the 12v 100ah lithium ion battery shuts off due to the low state of charge(SoC)?

If your battery completely shuts off due to low SOC, disconnect loads immediately and recharge it as soon as possible to prevent damage.

By monitoring your 12V lithium battery's SOC and charging at 50% SOC, you can maximize the usable energy per cycle while minimizing strain on the battery. This careful SOC balancing helps extend the lifespan of your lithium deep cycle battery significantly.

Icon for questionHow can I check the percentage left after using my battery?

    1. Bluetooth App: Download the app by scanning the QR code on the side of the battery to check the remaining charge.

    2. Battery Monitor: You can install a separate Battery Monitor to track the battery's percentage, voltage, and health.

Icon for questionHow much is the VAT charge % when ship to Ohio?

Please be advised that there is no VAT for US shipments. VAT is only if we ship outside the US.
